Scratch Build Girder Bridge

For the mainline tracks passing over the river I had originally planned a double track through girder bridge using 3 girders. One on either side and one between the tracks. Then I realized that the track running over the bridge was curved enough that having a girder in the middle would cause some clearance issues and would require altering the centerlines of the tracks. So I switched to doing a stone arch bridge for the mainline tracks and sticking with a through girder for the industry siding.

I was googling layout photos for fun earlier today and happened to stumble across Dave Volmer's Juniata Division layout. I remembered looking at the plan of his layout when I had been designing my previous layout. I went to look back at the photos he had online and saw that he had a double track through girder bridge without a center girder (also on a curve). I got inspired and ended up scratch building my own through girder bridge to span the river.

I used 1/8 in. strips of 0.5 mm styrene for the bracing under the deck and the girder and 1/16 in. strips for the panels on the girder. Unfortunately I had assembled most of the bridge before I though to use a pin to create rivets. It came out better than I expected.

I still need to give it a coat of paint and create the abutments for it before I can place it on the layout.
