Renovations

I spent tonight ripping up the roadbed from my old layout. My goal is to throw together a staging yard that I can connect to my new layout via the interchange track. I was going to build a 4 ft. by 1ft. platform for it when I realized that I already had a platform that I could use.

I was surprised at how many nails went into the roadbed. And the large portion of them that were bent from being hammered into plywood. The frame underneath the plywood had also shrunk slightly over the past year and a half. The plywood had started to warp upward where there was a gap between the screws. Next time I would either dry out the wood to reduce shrinking or put screws every 6 inches or so to insure that the plywood stays level.
